“Madrid should prioritise Hazard over Neymar” – says Courtois

The former Chelsea shot-stopper claims that Real Madrid is better-off going after the Belgian Eden Hazard rather than the Brazilian Neymar. Courtois came to Real Madrid after a big money moves from Chelsea. He feels like Eden Hazard is a great fit for a club of Real Madrid’s Stature. He also believes that Hazard is better than Neymar and is a player that Real Madrid should try and snap come this summer.

It makes sense for Courtois to favour his national companion as well. However, he hasn’t had the best of starts moving to a big club like Real Madrid. He is widely regarded as one of the best keepers in the world but he hasn’t been able to replicate similar form since moving to the Los Blacos. As a result, the fans have been showing their disappointment through boo’s and he has also been dropped for a couple of games during this season.

Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt wants to follow on former teammate’ footsteps

One of the most promising young defenders in Europe, Matthijs de Ligt wants to follow former teammate Frankie de Jong’ footsteps. The 19-year old Ajax captain wants to play with the Spanish giants, F.C. Barcelona and pair up with de Jong.

De Ligt is regarded as one of the finest young talents in Europe who could cost the Catalans $84.86 million with $11.75 million in add-ons, Mundo Deportivo reports.

Besides the last year’s La Liga winner, PSG and Juventus are also interested in the defender, reports. The interest in de Ligt is hardly surprising for any football lovers given he won the Golden Boy Award last year.

For now, de Ligt as well seems interested to travel to Camp Nou.

Netting a brace from out of the plenty box in the 64th minute, Messi equalizes for the host team. Barcelona were trailing a 2-1 score after Kevin Gameiro opened the scoring for Valencia in the 24th minute. The lead was doubled by Dani Parejo with a brace in a penalty shootout.

In the 39th minute, Messi opened the scorning for Barcelona. At the end of the day, the teams had to share single point. With the draw against Valencia, Barcelona has 50 points form 22 games, while Valencia is at No. 7 in the league table with 30 points from 22 games.

Karim Benzema beat Mexican Footballer Hugo Sanchez

Karim Benzema overcame Real Madrid C.F. and Mexican football legend, Hugo Sanchez, to become the European giant’s sixth highest scorer of all time. The no. 9 of the Spanish side held the mantle, scoring two braces in their La Liga campaign against Girona FC on Thursday, January 30.

With 209 goals in 446 appearances, the Frenchmen overtook Hugo’s count of 208 after he netted twice in a convincing 3-1 victory over Girona. Real Madrid congratulated Benzema, tweeting,

“Following his stunning brace against @GironaFC, @Benzema is now @RealMadrid’s sixth-highest all-time goalscorer!”

Since joining the club in 2009 on a $50 million worth contract, Benzema has 136 goals in La Liga, 47 in the Champions League, the Copa del Rey (20), the Club World Cup (3), the Spanish Super Cup (2), and the European Super Cup (1).

Benzema will now be chasing former Real Madrid ace forward Ference Puskas 242 goals. Ahead of Puskas are Santillana (290 goals), Alfredo Di Stefano (308 goals), Raul (323 goals), and Cristiano Ronaldo (451 goals).

The Spanish side will take on Alaves on Monday, February 4 in their next La Liga campaign. Will the Frenchmen be able to find the net?
